Paradise Valley Springs

Lions

LION FEEDING 2.30PM EVERY DAY

African Lions were first introduced to Paradise Valley Springs in the 1970's.  The founding members of our current pride were retired circus Lions, born in Australia.  We have been breeding Lions for over 20 years, and all of our Lions have been born at Paradise.  Some former cubs and members of the pride have been donated to other Wildlife Parks and Zoos throughout New Zealand and to Australia.

Our specially designed enclosure allows you to get very close to these formidable wild animals in complete safety.  Every day at 2.30pm our Lions are fed.  This is a great time to get up close to our Lions and learn a bit more about them all.

When we have Lion Cubs born at the park, they are available for visitors to pat, photograph and watch play in our Cub enclosure during the day - a fantastic experience.  Our latest Lion Cub was born in February 2010 and is available for visitors to pat.

As Lions are not New Zealand wildlife, our Lion park is situated in a seperate area from the main park - about a 2 minute walk from reception.

There is no extra charge to visit our Lion park.
